Our Principles and Objectives
Our Principles:
Camp for Climate Action Aotearoa working groups and local groups will work in line with the following collectively created principles:
-
We will work in a positive, inclusive and people focused manner.
-
The Camp itself will be an autonomous space for individuals to address climate Change.
-
We wish to remain unaffiliated with any big NGOs or political partys.
-
As a Climate Justice focussed initiative, we must address class divisions , oppression and how they are intertwined with the problems and possible solutions to the issues at hand.
-
We will work towards empowering people facing the threat of Climate Change and those confronting its root causes.
-
We support people based solutions as opposed to market based solutions.
-
We will have a multi cultural, Climate Justice focus with particular emphasis on Indigenous Peoples - Tangata Whenua in particular.
-
We aim to provide solutions that are relevant to peoples everyday lives.
-
Any funding that we choose to receive from external sources will be strictly 'no strings attached'.
-
We will address the Climate Crisis and its Root causes while acknowledging that this is not just an issue for humans but for all life on earth.
[It has been recognised that these principles and the following objectives will be subject to much discussion in the long term and hence are subject to change if we have consensus for this to happen]
